Luke Gatewood is the definition of a field general.  He has absolute control over the offense and knows where everyone should be at all times. Luke's football IQ and intangibles are off the charts for someone his age. He is an electric athlete with the fundamentals and throwing mechanics of a player in high school. Luke often throws passes away from coverage and into space so that receivers can run after the catch. Late in the season, he delivered some back-breaking runs that moved the chains. In addition to playing QB, he also shined as a defensive end causing havoc in the opposing team's backfield.

Luke finished the 2023 season with a completion percentage over 66% and accumulated 930 passing yards, 240 yards rushing and 22 total touchdowns.

LUKE'S 4TH GRADE HIGHLIGHTS AND SPOTLIGHTS

Luke Gatewood is a 4th grade Quarterback and Defensive End for the Franklin Panthers. Luke is a two way athlete who makes plays on both sides of the ball. Luke led his team to an 8-0 record and a victory over the previously ranked #2 Worcester Cowboys (9u).

Luke throws the ball on all levels (deep, intermediate and short passes) with anticipation and authority. Luke has a compact delivery and throws the ball with zip. He drives the ball down the field and shows superior mechanics for a 9 year old. Luke does not waste much time getting the ball off and is very accurate with his throws. He does not wait for his receivers to come open instead he throws them open.

Luke on defense eludes blockers and brings down the carrier in a hurry. Luke shuts down his side of the field as a defensive end.

Luke is the QB for the 9U Franklin Panthers, who absolutely dominated the formerly #2 ranked Worcester Cowboys in the state championship with a score of 27-0. Luke threw for over 1000 yards this season and over 20 combined passing/rushing TDs. He was also a force at Defensive End for Franklin's defense who let up a total of 25 points the entire season including playoffs. We think Luke is one of the top QBs in all of New England.
